We are often asked for plant-based barbecue ideas. There is actually a lot you can make. A simple classic are zucchini and eggplant slices with a little oil and salt. We also like to grill cobs, stuffed mushrooms (for example with our cashew sour cream) or avocado halves. Marinated vegetable kebabs, sometimes with mushrooms or tofu, are also very tasty.
For the side dishes, there are no limits. One of the side dishes that we especially love for barbecues is Russian Salad. Normally, Russian Salad is made with lots of mayonnaise containing eggs. However, in our recipe we suggest a very authentic and tasty plant-based mayonnaise sauce. It is super quick and easy to prepare. Of course, it is extremely versatile. If you mix it with potatoes, peas and carrots, you get a delicious, satisfying, nutritious and high-protein Russian Salad. Its mild taste fits perfectly with the rich roast flavors from the grill. I was really surprised how easy it can be to make plant-based milk, when I tried out the recipe of “The Plantpower Way”. There are many recipes of homemade nut milk. But I really like the fact, that it is possible to make it within 5 minutes for immediate consumption. We like to drink this white drink with its mild taste just as it is or sweetened with a little honey. But you can also refine it with spices, mix it with granola or use it in other recipes. This particular cashew milk is not the only thing I like about “The Plantpower Way”. This book contains many elements that make it not only a cooking inspiration, but also a life inspiration. The content is so positive, that I close the book full of hope and with a smile in my face, whenever I’ve read some pages.

Back from a very relaxing weekend far from civilisation at a paradise-like place with wonderful people, great food and interesting conversations, I’m going to present you a savoury recipe today. This sour cream made out of cashews and apple vinegar is so tasty and at the same time completely easy to prepare. It takes less than five minutes. We enjoy it nearly every week. What I love the most is that you can use it in so many different ways: As a dip with vegetable sticks or crackers, as part of a salad dressing, with homemade vegan burgers, etc. But in the end we still prefer the classic combination with some spicy beans.
